Summit Crossing gives real opportunities to Spotsylvanians to live near where they work with a wide variety of workforce housing.
A major problem facing Spotsylvania County is the lack of workforce housing that is truly affordable. Because current housing prices are so high, businesses are unable to recruit workers and public employees are unable to live in the County they serve. This shortage also exacerbates our traffic problems because a great many people must travel elsewhere to their jobs.
Summit Crossing responds to this critical need with a wide variety of high density workforce housing, which gives real opportunities for Spotsylvanians to live near where they work and reduce the pressure on our roads and schools when compared to by-right residential developments. Summit Crossing is designed to attract young professionals and empty nesters with few school-aged children.
In addition to ample workforce housing, Summit Crossing will create an Affordable Homeownership Program that gives special opportunities of ownership to those whose household income is approximately 80% of the median for our area. At least 10% of the residential units in Summit Crossing will be placed in this program. $4,000,000 will be contributed to the trust fund to assist new homebuyers with down payment and closing costs. To be eligible, you must currently work in Spotsylvania, or have lived in Spotsylvania for at least two years, or are currently on active duty in the military. It’s our way of taking care of our own.
